Of all Full Moon Festivals throughout the year, the first full moon in October at Kyaikhtiyo is the most well attended. It celebrates the end of the monsoon season and the Golden Rock is considered by many to be sacred. With religious fervour, men huddle precariously to paste a gold foil on the Golden Rock, which mysteriously balances at the edge of the cliff. Women however are not allowed near it due to some religious reasons.
